Locals Connected To Japan Continue To Worry After Quake
BOSTON (CBS) - Bay State natives here and abroad are concerned about loved ones in Japan.
LOCAL WOMAN REACHES JAPANESE FAMILY, BUT CAN'T REACH FRIENDS
It's been an agonizing wait for a local woman who's from Japan. Her family is safe, but she can't reach some of her closest friends.
She said she is fearing the worst.
WBZ-TV's Paul Burton reports.
DIGHTON NATIVE IN TOKYO
A Bay State native who now lives in Japan spoke with WBZ NewsRadio 1030 about the devastating earthquake.
Dighton native Steve DeGregorio now lives and works in Tokyo, about two hours from the epicenter. He said that even from that far away, buildings shook violently during the quake.
Fortunately, he said there was not a lot of damage in Tokyo.

"When we got home, nothing was necessarily damaged, but one of my closets was open and a whole pile of books was spread out all over the floor. Here and there I saw some things that had fallen over, or had been knocked down," said DeGregorio.
He said Tokyo residents are watching and waiting like the rest of the world for reports from northern Japan.
"We're kind of spectators here, maybe not too different than you guys, just seeing what's happening on TV," said DeGregorio.
