The navy has already sold part of the base, but another 835-acre tract may be sold for 25 million dollars.

Kevin Donovan of the Tri-Town Development Corporation says a deal in "imminent." Donovan tells me work has already begun on single-family housing, with other plans including an apartment complex, a nursing home, commercial space and new roads.
Together with 530 acres already transferred by the navy, the site could eventually create hundreds of homes, thousands of jobs, and millions in new tax revenue.
