Dennis Lehane Joins Volunteers In Search For Missing Dog
BOSTON (CBS) - An author known for his thrilling novels is now desperate to solve his own mystery.
Dennis Lehane's dog, Tessa, vanished in Brookline on Christmas Eve and he's been searching for her ever since.
On Thursday night, he joined a group of volunteers that were handing out flyers and looking for the beagle.
Lehane says Tessa means the world to him and his family.
"Let's put this into perspective, this is a dog, it is just a family pet," says Lehane. "But at the same time they worm their way into your heart and yeah, you miss them. We miss her a lot."
Lehane says if anyone finds Tessa, he will use their name for a character in his next book. However, he says everyone he's met is just searching for his dog out of the goodness of their hearts.
Lehane, who grew up in Boston, has written "Gone Baby Gone," "Mystic River," and "Shutter Island."
