December Debut

November 2011 is now down in the books as the 2nd warmest on record!  Yes, the average temperature was 50.4F, which is 5.7F ABOVE normal.  Our warmest temperature at Boston Logan was 69F on November 8. There was a total of 4.21" of precipitation with only a trace of snow all month.

A December Synopsis: Average highs start at 46F on the 1st and dwindle down to 38F by the end of the month.  For the month, we receive an average of 3.73" in precipitation/6.4" of snow. The earliest sunset will be at 4:11pm from December 6-11.

Today will be a sunshiny start to the month of December, but it will also be a little cooler. Highs will be in the middle and upper 40s.  A weak cold front will bring a swath of clouds late-day Friday. Otherwise, we will remain dry besides a slight chance of a few rain/snow showers for Northern New England during the evening. High temperatures will be around 50F.

The 1st weekend in December:  It will be a beautiful weekend with cooler high temperatures in the middle 40s for Saturday. However, the temperatures will return to the 50s on Sunday.

Models hint that there will be a some rain in the forecast by midweek next week. However, the track is still uncertain as the EURO takes a more westerly (warmer) track, while the GFSx shows a more easterly(cooler) track. Either way, I believe the western periphery of the storm may bring in cool enough air to produce a rain/snow mix by late-day Wednesday. We will keep our eyes on this system.

Melissa :)
