Death Of Young Woman In Spencer Called 'Suspicious'
SPENCER (CBS) - The mysterious death of a young woman in Spencer is suspicious, a Worcester County prosecutor said Thursday.
Twenty-year-old Alyssa Haden was found dead in her Pleasant Street home Wednesday morning.
Her brother-in-law, 21-year-old Steven West, was arraigned Thursday afternoon in East Brookfield District Court on a charge of misleading a police investigation.
He was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
West lived in the apartment with Haden and her twin sister.
Haden's family told WBZ-TV they forced their way into the house Wednesday and found her dead in her bed. Police said there were no clear signs of trauma.
They're currently awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Police arrested West Thursday morning and charged him with misleading them.
Haden's twin sister told WBZ-TV's Ken MacLeod that West was not purposely trying to mislead police but instead, he got upset when he felt investigators suspected him of something.
In court Thursday, the judge asked the prosecutor if there could be more charges. The prosecutor would only that it's early in the investigation.
