Dead Man Found In New Bedford Backyard
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — Police are investigating the apparent killing of a man who was found lying unconscious in the backyard of a New Bedford home.
Authorities say they believe 33-year-old Melvin Pina of New Bedford was killed early Saturday morning.
Residents of the Bates Street home called police shortly after 7:30 a.m. saying an unresponsive man was lying in their backyard.
Police and paramedics responding to the scene discovered that the victim was already dead.
A spokesman for Bristol County District Attorney Samuel Sutter says the state medical will conduct an autopsy that will determine the manner and cause of death.
