1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash On I-495 In Norton
NORTON (CBS) -- A driver was killed and two others hurt in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Interstate 495 South in Norton Saturday night.
State Police were called to the accident scene near exit 10 in Norton shortly after 6 p.m. Investigators say a 2015 Toyota Tacoma struck a 2010 Toyota Yaris.
Police say the Tacoma was traveling north on I-495 when it went lost control, crossed the median and hit the Yaris head-on in the center southbound lane of the highway.
The driver of the Yaris was pronounced dead at the scene, police say, and a passenger in the car was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 41-year-old Mashpee man driving the Tacoma was taken to Rhode Island Hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office is expected to bring multiple charges against the unidentified man.
Two I-495 South lanes in Norton were closed while police investigated, but they were reopened by 9:20 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
