Davis To Washington Lawmakers: Gaps In Terror Threat Info Before Bombings
WASHINGTON (AP) — The chief of the Boston Police Department says the Justice Department's terrorism task force needs to more quickly share threat information with local law enforcement officials.
Edward F. Davis III, commissioner of the Boston Police Department, told a Senate panel Wednesday that Justice's Joint Terrorism Task Force must be required to immediately share terror information that poses a threat to American cities. Before the Boston Marathon bombings, he said, there had been a "gap" in information sharing that must be closed to prevent future domestic terrorism.
He added that in the aftermath of the bombing FBI improved information sharing but that more needs to be done. Davis also told the panel that cellphone service immediately after the explosions were "completely useless" as a means of communication at the scene.
