David Ortiz Sports Shiny '500' Pendant In Red Sox Photo Shoot

BOSTON (CBS) -- It was picture day for the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.

For most players, it meant exactly what it did for everybody else back in elementary school: putting on a fresh outfit, making sure their hair looks nice, and smiling for the camera.

But for David Ortiz, it also meant busting out a fancy new piece of jewelry.

The Red Sox' DH, who announced that this season will be his final one in the majors, showed off a pendant which celebrates his milestone 500th home run.

And here's a closer look at that shiny pendant:

Clearly, in addition to a career that could land him in the Hall of Fame, Ortiz has accumulated quite the jewelry collection.

Ortiz smacked his 500th homer last September, and by season's end, he had 503 career dingers to his name. If he hits 30 in 2016 (he's averaged 30 per year since 2007), he'll finish with 533, which would put him at 19th all time.
