David Ortiz Appears On The Late Show With David Letterman
NEW YORK (CBS) - The victory tour continued for Red Sox slugger David Ortiz. Big Papi appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman.
Letterman congratulated the World Series MVP on the victory, but joked "it would be better for us if it were the Yankees."
The two talked baseball and beards. Letterman told Big Papi, "You have become sort of the standard bearer for by God this is our city."
And Ortiz talked about his feelings the first game after the Marathon bombings.
"My first day at Fenway, I saw a lot of faces expecting something special to happen and me being one of those faces," he said. " I express myself the way I feel at the time," Ortiz continued.
Letterman laughed and asked "what exactly did you say?" Ortiz repeated his now famous statement, with a little censoring. "I said this is our bleep city!"
