Dave Richard's Fantasy Football Championship Week Advice
BOSTON (CBS) - Fantasy guru Dave Richard of CBS Sports was a guest of the Toucher and Rich Show Thursday morning and provided his expert advice for owners heading into their championship weekend.
Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins unseated Robert Griffin III and has a very favorable matchup this Sunday against a porous Dallas pass defense. The numbers have been great for Cousins, who in two career starts has multiple touchdowns and 300-plus passing yards in each contest.
"I like Cousins better than Tom Brady this week," said Richard. "Brady has had some statistical trouble with Baltimore, his last five games against Baltimore he's had less than 20 fantasy points - including playoffs."
You could argue that running backs are the most important fantasy football position, with only a limited number of "sure things" to count on every week.
Although he's not a household name, one running back in the AFC South could help propel you to fantasy glory by picking him up off the waiver wire.
"Jordan Todman, if he can hold off Maurice Jones-Drew from coming back from his hamstring injury, he basically has the same type of matchup against the Titans as Cousins does against the Cowboys."
"Tennessee has allowed multiple touchdowns to running backs in seven of their last nine games, with over 150 total yards per game over the last five to running backs. You can start Todman right away. I think he has the potential for over 100 yards and a touchdown."
The phone lines were opened up and listeners dialed in to ask Dave for his opinion on tough roster decisions.
Richard admits he's nervous about Patriots running back Shane Vereen's fantasy impact, as well as Roddy White against the 49ers.
Also, who will have the bigger day: Cam Newton or Jay Cutler? Peyton Manning or Nick Foles?
