Dave Richard On Toucher & Rich: Wes Welker's Fantasy Value
BOSTON (CBS) - CBS Sports Fantasy Football expert Dave Richard joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich for his weekly chat on Thursday, getting fantasy owners ready for their Week 3 match ups.
One player in question around these parts is Patriots receiver Wes Welker, who has seen a decrease in his time on the field.
Welker put up decent numbers last week against the Cardinals with five catches for 95 yards, and Richard thinks his fantasy value will increase eventually -- just not this Sunday night in Baltimore.
"I think it's going to go up a little bit, but not this week. He's never scored against the Ravens," Richard said of Welker. "The fact his playing time is already a question mark, even without Hernandez there, I'd be nervous about starting him as anything more than a flex guy in a PPR league. I'm not nearly as excited with Wes Welker as I was a month ago."
"I still don't understand why they're giving Edelman more time than Welker," he added. "I don't see Wes Welker slow, it looks like he's the guy he's always been."

Ricard also took calls from listeners, giving his advice on who to start and who to sit. One of his recommendations was to hit the waiver wire in search of a sleep tight end.
"There are a lot of good sleepers on the waiver wire; Martellus Bennet with Giants, Scott Chandler with Bills, Dennis Pitta with Ravens… Tight ends are coming out of everywhere right now and it's not a bad time to speculate on one of those guys," he said.
