Dave Richard On Toucher & Rich: Take Matt Forte Over LeSean McCoy
BOSTON (CBS) - CBS Sports fantasy expert Dave Richard joined Toucher & Rich Thursday morning, as he does every morning for the length of the season, for some fantasy talk.
Running backs are the most frequently targeted position in the first round of fantasy drafts, usually no matter the league settings.
Everyone wants the elite backs, because there's really only a handful or so, and it also gives you the edge in a close matchup.
With his unbelievable 2013 season, coupled with Chip Kelly's high-powered offense, Eagles playmaker LeSean McCoy is someone that everyone would love to have on their roster.
Count Dave Richard as chief among them, but he likes another NFC back just a tad more.
"Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy -- if you want to go in that direction with your first pick that's fine. But I still like Matt Forte. I would take him over LeSean McCoy. I'm concerned that Darren Sproles will take some catches and carries away from LeSean McCoy this season."
Another elite level runner we've seen the past few seasons is Seahawks bell cow Marshawn Lynch. Richard thinks Beast Mode could turn to Least Mode in 2014.
"I'm nervous about Marshawn Lynch this season. He had over 400 touches last year -- that's a red flag. Most running backs that have that kind of workload drop off the next season. He also played in the Super Bowl last season. Most running backs that play in the Super Bowl drop off the next year. Look what happened to Ray Rice last year.
"Lynch is also in the last year of his contract, so Seattle may start to look in another direction at the position. They've got two really nice young players on the roster in Robert Turbin and Christine Michael. I'm worried about Marshawn. I wouldn't even put him in my top 10 this year."
