Daughter Calls On Driver Who Killed Mother To Come Forward

LYNN (CBS) - Yulia Levin's heart breaks when she thinks of her mother, Luyiza Polak, and now she is pleading for justice and help. "She was a wonderful person, kind loving and caring, and she did so much, says Yulia. "Now that she's not there there is a void and it's hard to fill with anything else."

Luyiza, who was 68 years old, was going to visit her elderly mother at Union Hospital in Lynn last month, when she was hit by a car in the crosswalk. Luyisa couldn't survive her injuries. The driver slowed down, and then took off.

Luyiza says, "We hope someday that person will be found and justice will be served."

WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports

Lt. Christopher Kelly says witnesses describe the vehicle as a newer model dark colored SUV-type vehicle with a rounded shape on the back. He believes there are more people out there with information. It happened on January 11th at 5 pm on Lynnfield Street.

Yulia is now speaking out after learning about a hit and run in Saugus that was recently solved. Steffany Barbanti was arrested in connection with Christos Agganis' death in 2010.

In the case involving Luyiza, anyone with information can call Lynn Police at 781-595-2000.
