Daugavins On Gresh & Zo: Bruins Have Winning Mindset

BOSTON (CBS) - Bruins Forward Kapsars Daugavins hadn't played since the first round against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but was called upon to replace the injured Gregory Campbell in Friday night's clinching Game 4 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Daugavins was claimed off of waivers in March, and joined the Bruins to provide more forward depth. Upon arriving, he saw a very focused team with just one goal: bringing home a Stanley Cup Championship.

"The first thing (I saw) was that the guys are really serious. There is a lot on the line with this team -- they want to win," he told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak on Monday. "I saw that right away with this team.

"I know these guys can win. They work hard in practice, after practice. When I saw it in June, I knew this would be a good team to play for," he added. "It's a great group of guy, like a big family caring for each other. On the ice and off the ice you can see how close we are. When a guy makes a mistake there are five guys behind him to cover it up."

Daugavins also explained his famous "roll call" video from his AHL days in Binghamton, and though he wouldn't do one on air, hinted there could be something in the works in the near future.
