Dangerous Heat...

The Month of March was one of the warmest on record with temperatures averaging 8.4 degrees above normal but so far this month April has been "cooler" with temperatures averaging 2.8 degrees above normal.  That 2.8 is about to rise in a big way as Summer-like warmth will be building in.  High pressure will slide south of us tomorrow and the warm up will begin.  Winds will be offshore and temps will climb to a very pleasant 65-70 degrees.

A warmfront will slide through early Sunday morning and that will usher in the first surge of Summer warmth.  After a brief shower very early in the morning will give way to sunshine and warming temps through the 70s and very close to 80 for many.  There will be very little forcing around for thunderstorm development that afternoon and with warming air aloft the atmosphere should remain capped as well so any thunderstorm would be isolated.

We maximize the warm-up on Marathon Monday with record breaking heat.  The high for the date is 84 set in 2003 and that will fall with an expected high in the upper 80s!  There is huge concern for the safety of the runners and racers on Monday.  The last time we had heat like this for the Boston Marathon was back in 2004 when it reached the mid 80s and many had to drop out from the heat...so please take it easy, as much as you want to push it, don't overdo it!
