Daily Talker: Should Facebook Ban Drinking Game?
A potentially deadly drinking game is being blamed for taking lives in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and there are concerns it could come to the United States next.
The game is called "neknominate", where young people post video of themselves drinking large amounts of alcohol in different ways, then challenge their friends to do the same thing -- or come up with something even more extreme.
In one case, a 20-year-old in Britain died after drinking two pints of gin that he mixed with tea bags, the equivalent of about 30 shots. After posting his video, the man wrote online that his belly was hurting. He was found dead a few days later.
In another case, a 29-year-old from Wales died after apparently drinking a pint of vodka.
Organizations in the UK are calling on Facebook to ban any other neknominate videos in hopes of stopping the spread of the game. The social networking site didn't comment on the controversy, but did say that controversial or offensive behavior isn't necessarily against its rules. Facebook also suggested people can block content they do not want to see.
What do you think? Should Facebook ban videos and groups promoting neknominate, or do users have a right to post what they want on the site? Share your comments below, and watch for them on WBZ News in the Morning from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m.
