Daily Talker: Have You Changed Your Mind About Edward Snowden?
In his first interview with a US television network, National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden says he would like to go home.
"I don't think there's ever been any question that I'd like to go home," Snowden told Brian Williams of NBC News. "Now, whether amnesty or clemency ever becomes a possibility is not for me to say. That's a debate for the public and the government to decide. But, if I could go anywhere in the world, that place would be home."
Snowden is now living in exile in Moscow, while facing felony charges in the United States after leaking documents that exposed the NSA's surveillance programs. He described himself as a patriot for trying to stop the US Government from violating the Constitution.
"I've gained the ability to go to sleep at night and to put my head on the pillow and feel comfortable that I've done the right thing even when it was the hard thing. And I'm comfortable with that," Snowden said.
Snowden also said he worked undercover and overseas for the CIA and the NSA, something that National security adviser Susan Rice says isn't true.
