Daily Talker: Fired For Refusing To Work On Thanksgiving
A manager at a Pizza Hut in Elkhart, Indiana says he was fired because he refused to open the restaurant on Thanksgiving.
Tony Rohr says in the ten years he worked at the location, it was always closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but when he was told that opening on Thanksgiving was mandatory this year he decided to take a stand. "I said why can't we be the company that stands up and says we care about our employees and they can have the day off," Rohr said.
Rohr says he was told to sign a letter of resignation. Instead, he penned a letter explaining his position to his boss. "I am not quitting. I do not resign however I accept that the refusal to comply with this greedy, immoral request means the end of my tenure with this company," Rohr wrote.
Pizza Hut has not commented.
