Dad, Daughter, UPS Worker Accused Of Stealing Packages From Quincy Homes
QUINCY (CBS) – It's not safe to leave packages on doorsteps in Quincy at this time of year.
Police arrested a father and his daughter Tuesday and later caught a UPS worker and charged all of them with stealing deliveries in separate incidents.
It all began when officers were called to a home on Freeman Street just before 5 p.m. after a package containing a Panasonic speaker system was stolen there. The victim gave police a description of a pick-up truck that left the scene and investigators pulled it over a short time later.
They say the driver, 58-year-old Michael Ritchie, had the stolen system with him.
Police then questioned his 19-year-old daughter Jennifer at her home and found several packages they believe were stolen from porches in North Quincy.

The Ritchies were charged with larceny over $250.
Later in the day, there was a report of another incident, this time involving a UPS worker.
UPS security called police because they were concerned about suspicious activity by one of their part-time runners who deliver packages from trucks to homes.
They confronted 30-year-old Michael McClellan and found stolen property in his personal bag in the truck.
They also found more unopened packages that McClellan had hidden in the woods, Quincy Police Capt. John Dougan told WBZ-TV.
He was charged with larceny over $250 and larceny from a common carrier.
Police say McClellan has a long criminal record
Two people were also arrested for stealing packages from doorsteps in Somerville Tuesday.
