Dabbling In Nectar While Dining Out Costing More Dollars
BOSTON (CBS) - Restaurants are charging more for an adult refreshing beverage these days.
The price of a glass of wine is on the increase.
That's the finding from a new study by Massachusetts-based Restaurant Sciences.
Chuck Ellis, CEO of Restaurant Sciences, says even though there are many different wines out there, prices usually follow the lead of about 10 wine holding companies.

Price Of Wine Increases
Ellis notes that while those companies are facing higher wholesale prices, they have not passed those increases on.
He says believe it or not, consumers might be part of the reason for the price hike at restaurants. He notes there is a lot of what he calls "experimentation" at both the low end of the market, and higher-end restaurants.
But even at casual dining spots - and there are more than 200,000 of them across the country - wine prices are edging higher.
The average American will drink nearly three gallons of wine this year. Ellis says he doesn't know how longer prices will go up, but he says it points to how competitive the market really is.
Wine drinkers, break out the wallet.
