DA: Plymouth Officer Shot Armed Taunton Man
PLYMOUTH (CBS) – A Taunton man is in the hospital after being shot by a police officer on Sunday.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said police received a report of men with guns in the area of Forest Ave in Plymouth around 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Arriving officers spotted a van that they stopped. During that traffic stop, officers say Trevor Wood, 21, jumped out and took off running.
Officers say he was carrying a handgun and had a bandana covering his face.
An officer shot him after officials say he ignored orders to drop that gun.
He was flown to a Boston hospital and is expected to survive the shooting.
Wood is charged with assault with intent to murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
State Police are investigating the entire incident.
