DA: Man Hit By Freight Train In Taunton Was Murdered
TAUNTON (CBS) - A Taunton man who was hit by a train on Monday night was actually murdered, investigators say.
The District Attorney's Office say the victim, 24-year-old Edwin Rivera Jr. was struck by a CSX freight train struck in the Cushman Street area on Monday night around 11 p.m.
An autopsy concluded that Rivera had suffered gunshot wounds and had died before the incident involving the train. The case is being treated as a homicide.
It's unclear whether police have a suspect in the murder. Flavio Daveiga, 21, is being charged as an accessory before the fact and obstruction of justice.
He's being held on $2 million cash bail.
