DA: DNA Evidence Ties Georgia Man To 1974 Shrewsbury Murder
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Prosecutors say the Georgia man charged in connection with the slaying 40 years ago of a Massachusetts woman had delivered furniture to her home the day before she was killed.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Thursday that 69-year-old Lonzo Guthrie of Austell, Ga., was a trucker who had been to 21-year-old Eileen Ferro's Shrewsbury home the day before she was found fatally stabbed on Feb. 22, 1974.
Guthrie was tied to the death through DNA evidence.
Early's cold case unit found viable blood samples from the 1974 crime scene and got a match after putting it into a national DNA database.
Guthrie was arraigned in Georgia on a fugitive charge and is fighting extradition to Massachusetts to face a murder charge.
It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer.
