DA: Charlestown Murder Victim Was Trying To Break Up Fight
Susan Rawlinson, the mother of victim Stephen Jones, rushed out of the courtroom in tears when Pablo Flores was brought in
Prosecutors say Jones was shot by Flores while trying to break up a fight between Flores and another man back in May.
Jones was struck in the chest and stomach. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Flores allegedly pointed the gun at Jones' friend and a female bystander before running away.
"Steven Jones was the kind of young man everyone wants as a neighbor," District Attorney Dan Conley said. "He was kind. He was concerned. He was a good friend. Dozens of people appeared in court today in a show of support for his memory. That says a lot about the number of people he touched in life."
Flores is being held without bail. He'll be back in court in October.
After his arraignment, Rawlinson's mother said she is starting a foundation in her son's name called "The Amazing Stephen's Friends Foundation" which will help kids.
