Curry College Student Arrested With Gun, Drugs In Dorm Room
MILTON (CBS) – A Curry College student was arrested Friday after officers found a gun and ammunition in a campus dorm room along with drugs they say he intended to sell.
Campus security searched a residence hall after receiving information from students that a gun was inside the room of Darius Boodoosingh, 18, of Boston.
During the search, a gun and ammunition were found.
The Milton Police Department was contacted, and Boodoosingh was arrested. He was charged with carrying a firearm on school grounds, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
It is against campus policy and state law to possess a gun on campus.
In addition, Boodoosingh was charged on three counts of possession of Class B drugs with intent to distribute. He also faces single counts of possession of Class C, D, and E drugs, all with the intent to distribute.
Curry College officials said they have placed Boodoosingh on interim suspension.
"The engagement of our community members resulted in removing an individual from our community whose behavior we will not tolerate," a Curry College spokesman said. "We commend our students for communicating with Public Safety. Together, they took appropriate and aggressive actions to help ensure the safety of all members of our community, and we are grateful for their collective response and handling of this matter."
