Crews used a crane to tear down the top of the three-story duplex Monday afternoon.

On Sunday afternoon, the right top part of the building was heavily damaged in the fire, forcing crews on Monday to take down the parts deemed unsafe by structural engineers.

Three adjacent buildings were also damaged, though not as seriously as the original building.

It has not yet been determined whether the entire building will have to be torn down.

Damage was estimated at $2.5 million.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
