Crews Search For Two Children In Destroyed West Springfield Home
Update: 9:52 a.m. Thursday: Authorities now say it's unclear if there were ever children in the home.
WEST SPRINGFIELD (CBS) -- While many people have started to clean up after the tornadoes, there are others who are still looking for family and friends.
At one home on Union Street in West Springfield, crews are looking for two children who are thought to be under the remains of a three-story home.
Their parents had been taken out by emergency crews shortly after the tornado hit. The father was able to walk out, and the mother was taken out on a stretcher.
As the father was taken out and led to an ambulance, he was visibly shaken and broke into tears. He was covered in dust.
WBZ-TV's Diana Perez reports.
The mother was on backboard as she was taken away from the scene.
State officials have not said how many other people may be unaccounted for, only that search and rescue operations continue.
