Crews Begin Removing Memorial Bridge Linking NH, Maine
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (CBS/AP) — A barge is in place to remove a 2-million pound section of the historic Memorial Bridge linking New Hampshire and Maine.
The removal had been scheduled for Tuesday night, but the prep work took longer than expected and workers wanted to start fresh Wednesday.
Crews began removing the section of the bridge Wednesday evening.
The barge will then float the span to a scrap yard in Everett, Mass.
