Crawford Returns To Sox With 2 Hits, 2 Runs

BOSTON (CBS) – After nearly a month off, Red Sox left fielder Carl Crawford made his return from the disabled list Monday night in Baltimore.

Crawford was 2-for-5 with a pair of singles, driving in a run and scoring twice as the Red Sox beat the Orioles 15-10 at Camden Yards.

"It felt good," said Crawford after the game. "I ran well. I was able to test it a few times so it felt good."

"(He) ran all over the place, he obviously feels pretty good. He was all over the ballpark," said manager Terry Francona after the win. "It's nice to have him back."

Crawford scored from second base in the fourth innings and then all the way from first on a Darnell McDonald bases loaded double in the eighth. After all the running he did, it was no surprise he had a huge ice pack wrapped around his left leg following the game.

"You definitely got to ice it after every game, just for the recovery stage," he said. "I'm not really concerned right now. That was part of the rehab, to make sure I felt good about it. I feel good about it."

Crawford missed a month with a left hamstring strain but said he felt fine at the plate, and his timing was not as off as he thought it would be.

"You never know how things are going to turn out. I thought I was going to be a little late but I was able to get good timing and get a few pitches down, find a few holes," said the speedy outfielder, who singled twice to right field.

Crawford was back in the six spot in the lineup where he is batting .344 for the season. In 61 at-bats he has 21 hits, nine of which are for extra bases.
