Crawford Leaves Red Sox-Brewers Game With Leg Injury
BOSTON (AP) - Carl Crawford has left the Boston Red Sox game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the first inning with a leg injury.
The speedy left fielder was hurt when he beat out an infield single to third base, just ahead of the throw from Casey McGehee that sent David Ortiz to third on Friday night.
Boston manager Terry Francona and a trainer went out to check Crawford, who held the back of his left leg above the knee. Darnell McDonald pinch ran for him and took second on a walk to Marco Scutaro that loaded the bases. But J.D. Drew grounded out, ending the inning with the score tied at 2.
McDonald stayed in the game in left field.
