Countdown To Summer

Happy Summer!  We are just hours away from the official astronomical 'Summer Solstice 2011'...1:16PM.  We will ring in the new season with sunshine and seasonable high temperatures in the lower to middle 80s...70s coast as a seabreeze develops during the mid-afternoon.  Starting Wednesday, this tranquil weather pattern will kiss New England good-bye...

Skies will be partly sunny on Wednesday before a wave of low pressure arrives later in the day. The rain will become heavy at times Wednesday night. One-half to three-quarters of an inch of rain may fall between 8pm Wednesday and 8am Thursday (12 hour period).  The rain will lighten up late Thursday morning, but the sky will remain mainly cloudy through the afternoon.  Another round of showers and storms can be expected Thursday evening.  Friday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of afternoon showers and storms as a cold/occluded front approaches the area.  This will continue to drape the area through Saturday night before it heads east. As you've most likely concluded at this point, it will be unsettled from Wednesday evening through Saturday. On a more positive note, most of this activity will not be all-day rain events.

Sunday and early next week look more promising for a quieter weather pattern.

Melissa :)
