Cool Air Hangs Tough

A few snow showers this morning, mainly south of the Pike, will coat some grassy surfaces.  Otherwise, we can expect a rather quiet day with mostly cloudy skies.  Winds from the NNE will continue to usher in cooler-than-average high temperatures in the upper 30s to the lower 40s.  Skies will become partly cloudy tonight making way for a cloud/sun mix on Friday.  Highs will continue to hover in the upper 30s to the lower 40s.

This Weekend:  A canadian high pressure system will be responsible for the sunshine this weekend, but it will also be the culprit for cooler than normal temperatures.  Once again, temperaures will remain stagnant in the upper 30s along with a few lower 40F degree readings.

Surprise , surprise!  The models are NOT in agreement with the next storm system early to middle part of next week. The GFSx shows the surface high losing its grip Wednesday.  This would allow for the Colorado low to jet across the Ohio River Valley into the Delmarva Peninsula and off to sea. This would provide more clouds and a few rain/snow showers for Southeastern Mass Wednesday night and early Thursday.  The EURO has a stronger surface high in place through Wednesday.  Then, the EURO hints at a Panhandle Hook heading this way next Friday with warmer temperatures ahead of the system as well as rain.   We shall see...

***For those forecasters keeping track, the NAM had this morning's storm system nailed down. It kept the best support for snow/mix/rain to our south. The NAM grid interpolations have consistenly showed a coating to an inch for areas south of the Pike since early this week. The GFSx did not handle this system very well.
