Convicted Kidnapper Questioned In Quincy Woman's Disappearance To Be Freed
QUINCY (CBS) -- A convicted kidnapper from Quincy who was a person of interest in the 2011 disappearance of a North Quincy woman is being released from federal prison Wednesday.
John Castonguay was never charged in the disappearance of Evelin Valibayova. He's been held at a prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey for violating his federal parole, by lying to police detectives investigating Valibayova's case.
District Attorney Michael Morrissey says Castonguay is still considered a person of interest in the disappearance of Valibayova.
Castonguay was a handyman at the 24-year-old woman's apartment building when she went missing in July 2011.
Morrissey is asking for the public's help in solving this active and open case. Any friends or coworkers who know anything about who might have had access to her apartment would be helpful, he said.
"She may have been moving at or about the time of her disappearance," Morrissey told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "We're looking for anyone who knows where she may have been going."
Castonguay moved to Quincy in 2006 after spending 19 years in prison for kidnapping a 9-year-old Woonsocket girl.
