Conn. reporter to be arraigned on larceny charge
A Connecticut television traffic reporter will soon face a judge for the first time since being arrested on shoplifting allegations.
Desiree Fontaine, a reporter for WTNH-TV in New Haven, is scheduled to be arraigned in Milford Superior Court on Wednesday on a misdemeanor larceny charge.
Police say Fontaine stole about $105 worth of merchandise - including jewelry, cologne and a men's Hawaiian-style shirt - from a Sears store in Milford on June 19. Her lawyer has declined comment on the allegations.
A police report says Fontaine told an officer she was a freelance news reporter and was doing "something on the side" when she was arrested. She didn't say for whom she was working.
WTNH says the 33-year-old Fontaine is on personal leave from her job.
