Community Meeting Held In Wake Of Dorchester Murders
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis told a community meeting in Dorchester that the killings of three women and the wounding of a fourth crosses the line even for "gangbangers." "Even the bad guys won't be a party to this," he said trying to reassure the gathering that police are making progress in the search for the killer or killers.
Sharrice Perkins of Dorchester, Kristen Lartey of Hyde Park and Marie Philip, all 22 years old, were gunned down as they sat in a car on Harlem Street in Dorchester. A fourth woman was wounded.
Davis said the tip line has been ringing off the hook providing police with good information, but the community was urged to open up even more to solve the case. "People are coming forward and that's a good sign," said Mayor Thomas Menino. "People want to solve this problem but we need all of you."
Also attending the meeting were relatives of Sharrice Perkins. "We're happy people care about this. It helps makes us feel better that maybe we can have some closure," said LaTeisha Adams, the victim's aunt. Her brother Chris Perkins said, "If you see something speak up. It's cowardly that's all it is to shoot four women in a car."
