Cosplayers Compete For Comic Con Tickets At Faneuil Hall
BOSTON (CBS) -- About 30 cosplayers--dressed as Supergirl, The Joker, and many others--paraded around Faneuil Hall Thursday hoping to win Boston Comic Con tickets.
Brandon from Boston, who normally works at a local hotel, spent his lunch hour today dressed in the red and blue costume of Captain Planet. WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Doug Cope asked him why.
"I think it's just a celebration of uniqueness, individuality, and just the love of comics and the love of characters," he said. "It's not always fun to always be mature all the time."
Greg from Waltham dressed up as Uncle Fester from The Addams Family.
"It comes down to a little bit of exhibitionism, a little bit of fandom," Greg said. "Frankly I've met a ton of people that I probably would never know otherwise."
He says cosplaying got him back into photography.
"I do a lot of cosplay photography, so I work with a lot of cosplayers and models," he said. "It's just fun, it keeps you out of trouble."
The winners of a costume contest all won tickets to Boston Comic Con, which will be held August 12-14 at the Seaport World Trade Center.
