Colvin On Toucher & Rich: Next Two Weeks A Real Test For Pats?
The Patriots went down to Miami and locked up the AFC East with a 23-16 win over the Dolphins.
Former Patriots linebacker Rosevelt Colvin joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich — once again from his hot tub — to break down the Patriots win over the Dolphins and look ahead to the Texans and 49ers.
The next two weeks will be a challenge for New England, with both Houston and San Francisco coming to Gillette for prime-time matchups. These are just regular season games, but many are looking forward to seeing how the Patriots match up with two of the top teams in the NFL.
Do these games mean more to the Patriots, or are they just two more regular season games on the schedule?
"At the end of the day they mean the same; it's a win or loss," said Colvin. "I think when you look, the underlying story is can you win in more difficult environments or situations?"
The Pats had been handling teams fairly easily the past few weeks, but once again -- as in year's past -- they had some trouble with the Dolphins in Miami. Why do the Patriots struggle playing in the Sunshine State?
"I think what Miami presents you got the whole nostalgia of 'hey, we're at South Beach, we're in the Sunshine State, let's relax and have a good time.' The heat, I think, relaxes your mind and it's a different climate."
Safety Patrick Chung found himself playing mostly on special teams. Is there a deeper meaning to this? Is he on his way out, or does he have to earn his way back into the secondary? Plus why weren't the Pats targeting Brandon Lloyd?
