Colvin On Super Bowl XLVI: Keep Brady Upright

The Patriots arrived in Indianapolis on Sunday after holding a send off party at Gillette earlier in the day.

Former Patriot linebacker Rosevelt Colvin now lives in Indy and he spoke with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich about the scene in Indianapolis as the city gets ready for the Super Bowl, Rob Gronkowski's injury and the New York Giants offense.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered an injury in the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. Gronkowski's father came out on Friday and said that his son's injury was a high ankle sprain, but would play in the Super Bowl. How difficult is it to play with this type of injury?

"It's all a matter of one, what's you pain tolerance, and then two, how much functionality can you get out of it where it is. If it's a Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4, you really don't know where that is."

Gronkowski has yet to practice with the team and is still in a walking boot. What should fans take away if he hasn't practiced at all come game day?

"It may be a precautionary measure or maybe some camouflage and their just trying to make it seem like he's not going to play then he pulls a, I think it was Willis Reed, that came out and had a great performance."

The guys moved on to talk about Tom Brady and keeping him on his feet. Does this whole game depend on the offensive line keeping Brady upright and the Giants' pressure at a minimum? Will anything change without the occasional block from Gronk?

"I do agree with that and that was one of the major reasons why the last matchup between the two teams in the Super Bowl in Arizona had the outcome that it did."

"I don't know if them saying now that Rob Gronkowski, him not being in there is going to affect that because I would say a majority of the time Rob is out in the pass pattern. So he's not protecting the quarterback; he's not one of the guys blocking."

With Gronk's injury Aaron Hernandez will probably be the one to pick up some of the slack. Can Hernandez pick up the slack if Grownkowski can't contribute?

"I think he can he shows definitely the potential and I think what they've tried to do in the last two or three weeks is be creative in getting him the ball and getting him touches."

The guys also discussed some events and parties going on in Indy this week.
