Colts Ground Blimp Aimed At Taunting Tom Brady

BOSTON (CBS) -- Remember when some Colts fans planned on paying for a blimp to fly over Indianapolis and mock Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Sunday?

That plan has been grounded, as the Colts requested that the blimp company, Air Sign, stay out of the air when the Patriots are in town.

That's probably not a bad move on Indy's part, as the Patriots come to town on their "Scorched Earth" tour following nine long months of DeflateGate drama. There's no need to provide New England, who is 4-0 and tearing apart any team standing in their way so far this season, with any extra motivation as they square off against the team who started that whole mess.

It hit social media last week that Colts fans wanted to fly a 150-foot blimp with "#DeflateThisBrady" on its side ahead of Sunday night's Patriots-Colts showdown at Lucas Oil Stadium. But Air Sign was picked off by the Colts and won't take to the air anymore, wanting to maintain a good relationship with the team.

"We at AirSign.com have always felt that aerial advertisement is a fun experience and it is used to bring a positive and as you saw, humorous angle to events or occasions," company rep Eddie Thompson told WRTV in Indianapolis. "We want to continue to work alongside the Colts in future campaigns."

At least the Colts are intercepting something this season.

A GoFundMe page had been set up to raise funds for the stunt, but that has since been shut down.

It looks like the only thing flying through the air on Sunday will be all those touchdown passes thrown by Brady.

Tune in to Patriots-Colts Sunday night on 98.5 The Sports Hub — the flagship station of the New England Patriots.
