Colder Air Ahead

It's shaping up to be a mild day with ther mercury reaching the lower 50s. However, this morning will be cold enough to support a light icy mix in spots that are north and west of Nashua and Fitchburg.  Then, scattered showers will become more widespread this afternoon as a cold front nears New England.

These showers will linger into the early overnight and taper off after midnight. The only exception is the Cape where the showers may linger into early Friday morning. Overnight lows will remain mild in the middle 40s before cold air advection takes place on Friday.  The cold front moves east overnight tonight. In its wake, Friday will include partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies along with gusty northwest winds. Temperatures will be falling through the 40s.

This weekend will provide us with a winter-like feel.  Saturday will be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s. Sunday will be partly sunny (flurries possible west, due to an upper level disturbance) along with highs in the middle 30s. Brrr!

Next week, we will need to watch the track of a storm system on Wednesday and Thursday.  Right now, both the EURO and the GFSx show a warmer scenario.

This signifies more of a rain event.  However, this track can change.  We'll be watching!

In a way, I'm hoping for some snow just in time for Christmas.  Are you 'dreaming of a white Christmas'?

Melissa :)
