Cold That Hurts...

Tomorrow will be the coldest day in nearly a year.  When you wake up, given it's on the earlyside, it will likely be in the single digits north and west of Boston and very slim double digits to the south and east.  The wind will still be fluttering around a bit too creating subzero windchill values.  Despite wall to wall sunshine we will have a very tough time rebounding tomorrow afternoon...we are looking at a high very near 20 in Boston, teens to the north and west and 20 or slightly better to the south and east.  To sum up tomorrow, it's the type of cold that if you are out in it long enough, it's going to hurt.

The cold will bottom out on Monday morning with most dipping into the single digits.  Towns north and west of Boston, that have snow on the ground, have a chance to go below zero very early Monday morning.

Milder air will begin drifting in Monday afternoon and highs will manage to return to the freezing level...32.  The mild flow will continue through Tuesday but as the warmth and cold interact I expect some very light precip to fall Monday night through Tuesday.  At the start, Monday night and very early Tuesday, surface temps will still be near or even below zero so ice may be an issue for the Tuesday morning drive.  Even if surface temps climb slightly above freezing Tuesday morning the frozen ground will be cold enough to refreeze any liquid falling from the clouds.

Other than that small disturbance Monday night and Tuesday, the week ahead looks very quiet.  Enjoy the rest of the long weekend!
