Cold and Calm...

The strong wind is settling down but it did the job of transporting in cold air.  The high today was 51 but that is deceiving because it was set just after midnight...temps actually fell or stayed steady for most daylight hours.  With high pressure cresting over us all will be quiet for Thanksgiving Day.  Tomorrow night, however, light precip will break out near or after midnight.  Even though the atmosphere will be in warm up mode while the dry air saturates it will cool creating a light wintry mix at the onset for the interior...sleet, snow and a few pockets of light freezing rain.  There may even be some sleet pellets in the Boston area too.  Accumulation will be minimal but some light icing on tree limbs, shrubs etc. for the some valleys in the Monadnock Region and Worcester Hills will be likely.  I don't see roads getting icy though...ground still not frozen and insolation for half the day should get absorbed by pavement.  Weak low pressure will develop along front and focus a few downpours for Friday morning and the shoppers.  Front / occlusion comes through by midday shutting off the rain and opening the door for another round of dry, cold air for the weekend.
