Coast Guard Helping Disabled Freighter Off Cape Cod
BOSTON (CBS) - The U.S. Coast Guard is helping a disabled 432-foot ocean freighter carrying nine people about 70 miles southeast of Cape Cod.
The vessel "Dintelborg" en route from the Netherlands to Willington, Virginia lost propulsion when a small fire broke out on the bridge. The fire was put out, but the ship is now adrift without power.
A Coast Guard aircraft is serving as a communications platform to relay messages from the ship to rescue coordinators on shore.
There are plans to tow the vessel to a port in Providence, Rhode Island.
None of the crew were injured.
