Cloudy Trend Will Break This Weekend
Brief morning downpours and thunderstorms dropped a quick 1"+ of rain across Metrowest this morning, but have quickly exited.
Now we are left with abundant low clouds which are pretty much stuck over us for the rest of the day.
The low clouds will try to lift by the midday into the early afternoon for perhaps some brightening and thinning to the overcast for a few breaks of sun.
That is about all...but the good news is most of the day will be on the drier side so any outdoor plans should be fine despite the clouds, cool onshore winds keeping temps in the 60's to near 70.
Watch Joe's forecast:
A warm front south of New England will slowly push northward today but not make it much further than CT or RI. The best chance of any breaks of sun will be primarily be south of the Pike...any breaks will allow temps to spike into the 70's in the west. Much of the region will remain on the cooler cloudier side of the warm front...especially at the coast. If you are on the Cape...I expect mainly dry conditions for the entire weekend with 60's today and mid 70's tomorrow.
A cold front will begin to push eastward later today and tonight. Another shortwave moving in from the Great Lakes will likely bring another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms by the mid afternoon into the early evening. The best chance of these showers/storms will likely be in the North and west or areas which had a few breaks of sun earlier. Chances for showers we decrease south of Boston. Showers will taper off later tonight as the shortwave moves off the coast. Mainly dry, but cloudy after midnight.
Low clouds, some fog early Sunday. Low clouds will lift as skies will become Partly Sunny Sunday with drying WNW winds. Winds will shift to the SE which will still keep temps cooler at the coast while most will warm into the 70's nearing 80 by afternoon.
Weak high pressure in place will give us another nice day Monday with increasing high-mid level cloudiness and highs in the Lwr 80's. SW winds ahead of our next cold front will keep it mild into Tuesday (lwr80s) before afternoon showers and thunderstorms which push off the coast early Wednesday morning.
High pressure will follow in behind with a splendid stretch of weather from Wed- Friday with sunshine and temps in the Lwr-mid 80's. The boundary layer will be increasing with moisture and humidity pushing further into the holiday weekend. Showers should hold off Saturday. Today, it looks like Sunday will be the day for showers and thunderstorms with an approaching cold front.
