Closing Arguments Set For Mark Kerrigan's Manslaughter Trial
WOBURN (AP) - A Massachusetts jury will soon hear closing arguments in the manslaughter trial of the brother of Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan.
Mark Kerrigan is charged in the Jan. 2010 death of his 70-year-old father, Daniel Kerrigan.
Testimony in the trial ended Friday. Closing arguments from prosecutors and defense attorneys are scheduled for Monday in Woburn Superior Court. Prosecutors allege that Mark Kerrigan caused his father's death when he grabbed him around the throat during an argument, triggering heart failure.
Kerrigan's lawyers say Daniel Kerrigan died because he had severe blockage of his coronary arteries. They say Mark Kerrigan wasn't responsible for his father's death.
Nancy Kerrigan and her family have supported her brother. Nancy has been in the courtroom every day of the weeklong trial.
