Cleveland Indians Beat Toronto Blue Jays, Advance To World Series
BOSTON (CBS) – Former Red Sox manager Terry Francona is heading back to the World Series.
Francona's Cleveland Indians shut out the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-0, on Wednesday to win the American League Championship Series, four games to one.
Former Red Sox reliever Andrew Miller was named ALCS MVP after striking out 14 over 7.2 innings, allowing just two hits and no runs.
With the victory, Cleveland advanced to the World Series where they will face either the Chicago Cubs or the Los Angeles Dodgers.
During his tenure in Boston, Francona led the Red Sox to World Series wins in 2004 and 2007.
The Indians have not won the World Series since 1948.
