Clerk Fires Gun At Would-Be Robber In Fitchburg
FITCHBURG (CBS) - A would-be robber armed with a revolver could barely bark his orders before he was ducking for cover and making a quick exit from Michele's Variety Store in Fitchburg.
The store clerk surprised the man with a quick shot from his handgun behind the counter.
The man came in at 6 p.m. Sunday night.
WBZ-TV's Ken MacLeod reports
Police would not condone or condemn the actions of the clerk.
"That's a very personal decision as to what type of action you're going to take," says Sgt. Glenn Fossa of the Fitchburg Police.
The clerk's single shot did not hit the would-be robber, but sent him out the door without him ever firing his gun, and without getting a nickel.
Surveillance video captured the incident.
In July, a clerk was shot and killed at JV's Variety on Fairmount Street.
