'Clark Rockefeller' Arrives In LA For Murder Case
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A German immigrant who masqueraded as a member of the famous Rockefeller family has arrived in Los Angeles to face a charge that he murdered a man more than a quarter century ago.
Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said Thursday that Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter had arrived at Los Angeles International Airport late Wednesday.
He has been booked into Men's Central Jail downtown with his bail set at $10 million.
Gerhartsreiter was already serving a prison term in Massachusetts following a 2009 conviction in the kidnapping of his 7-year-old daughter.
Gerhartsreiter lived in suburban San Marino in the 1980s. Los Angeles County prosecutors say he killed his landlord Jonathan Sohus in 1985.
Gerhartsreiter will be arraigned Friday. His attorneys say he will plead not guilty.
