Update: Chelsea Police Say Woman Fabricated Attack
The woman, who is in her 20s, was walking near Lynn Street Extension between Central Avenue and Maverick Street around 9:30 p.m. when the men beat her, kicked her, and slashed her with a knife, police say.
They also robbed her of her personal possessions. The victim was treated for serious injuries and cuts at Whidden Hospital in Everett.
Investigators are looking for suspects described as Hispanic men believed to be between the ages of 18 and 21, who wore black face masks and may have blood on their clothing.
They were seen wearing black sweatpants, and two of the three suspects wore black hooded sweatshirts while the third wore a grey one. They believe the men may live in the area.
Police are also recommending women be "hyper-vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times," especially when walking alone at night.
They also recommend not listening to music on headphones when walking at night. Police have stepped up patrols in the area since the armed robbery.
